Sidenote:In the comments nether the video yous posted someone said his character Homey D. Clown was very funny too, so I searched for it on the tube. And I establish a sketch compilation, incredibly funny
:
(and a young Jim Carrey is also playing in some of the sketches)Best of Homey D. Clown Vol. 1-In Living Color
I think it was an extremely underrated prove. I would laugh every time information technology showed as well as in the reruns. I wonder how a similar shiw would fare today.Strangely,Damon Wayans went on to more than serious, straight-laced roles after the show. I guess you can say that he did not proctologize the viscosity of his fecal derriere ;).
ZapperZ me too, I'll exist watching information technology soon. How did y'all find Corpse Bride I thought the animation was adept and the gothic-romance plot 🎞I picket Tim Burton'due south "Nightmare Before Christmas" regularly, especially around Halloween. Best film soundtrack ever in my book.
Thanks
Bill
A powerful insightful motion picture with impressive writing from two young actors evidenced by their Oscar and with excellent supporting roles by Robin Williams, Minnie Commuter, and Stellan Skarsgård.Proficient Will Hunting - watch it at least once every half-dozen months. Dear the scene where Will Hunting is in the bar and dismantles the obnoxious twit that was trying to put down his friend played by Ben Affleck. I ever rewind it and lookout information technology a few times while watching the motion-picture show. Laugh at the reviews that say he was an undiscovered genius - Gerald Lambeau was a genius - Will Hunting was another Ramanujan or perhaps Feynman ie a Sorcerer that even geniuses cant go where they get. This is a central part of the moving picture that reviewers don't seem to get, it makes me shake my head. The parallels and differences between Hardy and Ramanujan seem lost on them equally well - Ramanujan lived for math, Volition Hunting didn't really care that much - he was interested in it - just information technology was not his deep passion.Thank you
Bill
I thoroughly agree that Damon'due south character is non a mathematician. He likes mathematicians and is mildly intrigued by their struggles to comprehend what he sees so easily. The scenes where he solves connected graphs in his head demonstrates that he visualizes these problems in Due north-dimensional geometry and simply selects a solution that "Hardy" (Skarsgard) will accept.
I have only watched "Good Volition Hunting" once in theatrical release. 2 issues keep me from purchasing the DVD.
When Damon/Affleck listing choices faced by a male child confronting a drunk sadistic father -- something about 'choose to be hitting by a belt, fist or stick' -- I thought, "Lucky wimps! They go a choice?". A large crescent wrench (adjustable spanner) suprised slammed against the temple hurts more due to the sharp edges and the helical thread. True, a heavy fist deep in the gut causes more concrete upset and some lasting harm; but if the kid enjoys thinking and the father hates intelligence then blows to the head cause the about problems in my experience.
Holy cr4p man your post was horrific.A powerful insightful movie with impressive writing from two young actors evidenced by their Oscar and great supporting roles by Robin Williams, Minnie Driver, and Stellan Skarsgård.I thoroughly concur that Damon's character is not a mathematician. He likes mathematicians and is mildly intrigued by their struggles to comprehend what he sees so easily. The scenes where he solves connected graphs in his caput demonstrates that he visualizes these problems in Due north-dimensional geometry and only selects a solution that "Hardy" (Skarsgard) will accept.

The profound way the expiry of his married woman affects William's character including painting to cope with loss hits close to home. The highly personal comments Damon makes well-nigh child abuse, offhand during a counseling session, as well strike home. Damon's character is lucky IMO to even so be able to think and speak then adroitly. When Damon/Affleck list choices faced past a boy confronting a drunk sadistic father -- something nigh 'cull to be hit by a belt, fist or stick' -- I thought, "Lucky wimps! They get a choice?". A large crescent wrench (adjustable spanner) suprised slammed against the temple hurts more due to the sharp edges and the helical thread. Truthful, a heavy fist deep in the gut causes more physical upset and some lasting damage; just if the child enjoys thinking and the father hates intelligence so blows to the head crusade the most problems in my feel.
I had a loving family and should remember it was not and so bad as a kid at abode.
Oh, distressing. Should I delete the post? The movie is fantabulous and worth discussing.Holy cr4p man your mail service was horrific.
I had a loving family unit and should remember information technology was not so bad as a kid at abode.
The core of the script concerns overcoming child abuse and loss. Damon'southward character shows practical smarts by condign a janitor at an Ivy league college in order to devour all those books after piece of work for fun and to cocky educate. His trend to physically assail perceived enemies seems counter-productive in such an articulate graphic symbol. Personally, the thought that abused children grow into abusers is malarkey. Gus van Sant probably meant those scenes equally holdovers from Damon's childhood and to dissimilarity the janitor'south personal life with the make clean placidity university corridors he despises.
No please don't apologize. Information technology was distressing to read only don't delete.Oh, sorry. Should I delete the mail? The moving-picture show is excellent and worth discussing. The core of the script concerns overcoming child abuse and loss. Damon'due south character shows practical smarts by condign a janitor at an Ivy league college in order to devour all those books afterward work for fun and to self educate. His tendency to physically attack perceived enemies seems counter-productive in such an articulate person. Personally, the thought that abused children abound into abusers is malarkey. Gus van Sant probably meant those scenes as holdovers from Damon's babyhood and to contrast the janitor's personal life with the make clean tranquillity university corridors he despises.
Some films are just great simply others chime with us because of our by feel, skillful and bad.
Experience expert motion-picture show? Over and over.'It could happen to you lot' Great motion picture. Nicholas Cage, bright. Everything that is proficient and bad most people but I recommend it.Oh, sorry. Should I delete the post? The movie is excellent and worth discussing. The core of the script concerns overcoming child abuse and loss. Damon'south character shows practical smarts by becoming a janitor at an Ivy league college in guild to devour all those books after work for fun and to cocky brainwash. His tendency to physically attack perceived enemies seems counter-productive in such an articulate person. Personally, the idea that driveling children grow into abusers is malarkey. Gus van Sant probably meant those scenes as holdovers from Damon's childhood and to contrast the janitor'south personal life with the clean placidity university corridors he despises.
I always scout it with Indian food a few beers on a Friday nighttime with good friends.
How true is it? Apparently it'south based on some existent events.
Picket it!
Oh, sorry. Should I delete the mail service? The movie is excellent and worth discussing.
Oh no - it was an excellent analysis - more insightful than my effort. English, literature, film analysis etc is not my force - but boilerplate - nor was I that interested in information technology while at school - simply more interested these days. I really failed information technology at HS and technically did not graduate because I did no work. The other subjects I did were all science/math based and because I take a natural affinity with them had no trouble passing with no effort - in fact I got a credit boilerplate - just non in English language. Jordan Peterson, whose intelligence I respect, while not like-minded with all he says, was asked what he did not know. Immediately he said - Physics, Quantum Physics, and Math. Since Quantum Physics is part of Physics I guess he meant especially Quantum Physics. He is the exact opposite to me - nonetheless I discover what he writes and says interesting. Why some people are good at some things and only average at others, even though they take a high IQ overall, has always been a mystery to me. Will Hunting seemed a 'Wizard' at everything - Feynman was a Magician at math at physics, very good at whatsoever branch of science equally evidenced past his research in Biology, but probably not a Sorcerer, and like me only average at English. That'south probably why he only had an IQ of just 128 (some say 125) - the test he did was more oriented to testing humanities type skills rather than logic type skills. He got the highest score in Math and Physics Princeton had e'er seen, but the lowest score in the Humanities they had ever seen in their PhD admission test.
Thanks
Neb
The focus is on his relationship with Arleen rather than the Science.
I am non sure I would watch the film Infinity about Feynman over and over.
The focus is on his human relationship with Arleen rather than the Scientific discipline.
Thanks! I didn't even know that picture show existed.
I watched the PBS Nova programme about him several times: Terminal Journeying of a Genius
Original broadcast date: 01/24/1989
I don't think I'd heard of him before that came out.
There are non that many films about scientists. 'The imitation game.' with Cumberbatch I recommend rather than 'Theory of everything,' that came afterwards. Thanks! I didn't fifty-fifty know that movie existed.I watched the PBS Nova program about him several times: Last Journey of a Genius
Damn busters is the other famous i that accept seen again and once more.
Paul Dirac would be a good discipline for a film I always idea.
If you have not read 'The strangest human' I recommend information technology.
Is there ane nigh Einstein? There is a series called 'Genius' that is pretty good.
I'll have a search effectually.
Edit: A beautiful heed! How could I forget that?! That is one can scout over and over.
Aye, I actually, actually liked that one too!'The imitation game.' with Cumberbatch I recommend
Which wouldn't be a surprise to someone who knows me, since I like Cumberbatch1, computing and cryptography and I am also very interested in history incl. WW2. In short, it'due south my kind of movie
Trailer for those lucky ones who accept not seen it notwithstanding:
1 And I am a big fan of the Sherlock tv serial (a modern version of Sherlock Holmes), where Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and others also are first-class.
Trailer for those lucky ones who have not seen it yet:
Weird. The Court Jester.......Fargo......Sideways...Being There....Dr. Strangelove.....Freeway..... and final, but not to the lowest degree, Romy and Michelle's High Schoolhouse Reunion.
3 of these are some of my favorites: Fargo, Being There, Dr. Strangelove
Whilst the other iv, I've never even heard of.
Cheers!
If I forget to lookout man it for more than than 2 years, it might feel like I'm missing a "kicking."
If I get to that bespeak, I'd better hope my present reality is worth existence an illusion.
The Prestige
Sherlock Holmes
Bourne Series
Lord of The Rings
Had to wait that acronym up: "All Quiet On The Western Front".
I strongly remember reading the English version of Erich Remarque'due south start novel, the sequel, more dimly. Not sure I saw the moving picture, or perhaps cannot distinguish "All Repose.." from so many other war films / novels such as "The Guns of August" and Hemingway's "A Farewell To Arms".
Good choices, all, because life once once more imitates Art in electric current history making events.
FTR I never liked the novel or movie but "A Separate Peace" set during WWII borrows heavily from Remarque's AQOTWF earlier 'falling down the stairs'.
I do recommend the anti-war books "Johnnie Got His Gun" and "The Execution of Private Eddie Slovak" but accept not seen the movies.
[oops, forgot thread title. Next mail is ameliorate.]
The just books I have read twice are The Ring Trilogy and Catch-22, and those readings were xxx years autonomously.
Music is the merely thing I repeat. At the about farthermost I heard Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Society Band hundreds of times when it was the just record I endemic.
Johnnie, so-so movie; Execution , not popular at TAMU (Rudder Tower) where I post-doc'd, and "duller than dirt" on-screen...my recollection is falling asleep halfway through both the moving-picture show and the book. Books? The Adept Soldier Schweik, Jaroslav Hasek, an unfinished masterpiece, still in my library, as is Johnnie...not so Eddie...I never throw books away."Johnnie Got His Gun" and "The Execution of Private Eddie Slovak"
Thanks for the info. I read 'Johnnie' and 'Eddie' long time ago. Speed read. Might dislike them now. WWII era "Catch 22" book and film much better, though Heller'southward cynicism grates.Johnnie, so-so movie; Execution , not popular at TAMU (Rudder Tower) where I post-medico'd, and "duller than dirt" on-screen...my recollection is falling comatose halfway through both the film and the book. Books? The Skilful Soldier Schweik, Jaroslav Hasek, an unfinished masterpiece, still in my library, every bit is Johnnie...non so Eddie...I never throw books away.
Did not like "Tin can Drum". Strongly recommend Lothar-Gunther Buchheim'south "Das Kick" novel and film. Lookout man manager's cut in German. Compelling realistic state of war movie true to novel. English language version too good as Wolfgang Petersen had original cast voice both versions.
Aye!Lothar-Gunther Buchheim's "Das Boot" novel and film.
Sharks and Piddling Fish/Hai und Kleine Fisch(?sp), Wolfgang Ott; don't think it ever made the screen, may have inspired L-GB's work.recommend Lothar-Gunther Buchheim's "Das Boot"
I reckon The Academy should've had Homey waiting in the wings behind Chris Rock, so sneak out and execute his trademark when the latter fabricated a too-offensive joke. (He would have been funnier than Will Smith...)I call back [Homey] was an extremely underrated show. I would laugh every time it showed equally well as in the reruns. I wonder how a similar show would fare today.
Me neither, though I probably failed to understand it correctly. Young boy trying to squeeze up into his baby sitter's <ahem>. How on earth did that get past the censors?
I watched the flick and then, much later, the TV series, mainly captivated by Lizzy Caplan who seems incredibly skilled at playing nutcases of varying severity. I was surprised when she turned up in Truthful Blood.Strongly recommend Lothar-Gunther Buchheim'southward "Das Kicking" novel and film.
But I wouldn't watch Das Kicking over again -- too depressing.
IDK. I cannot tum Gunter Grass, never watched the film. Also dislike J.D. Salinger of "Crapper in the Rye" fame.Me neither, though I probably failed to understand it correctly. Immature boy trying to clasp upward into his babe sitter'southward <ahem>. How on earth did that get past the censors?
Oh wow. Kickoff I learned well-nigh the Television series. Thanks. I liked Truthful Blood despite not beingness much of a fantasy fan. Anna Paquin always turns in brava performances despite sounding like Holly Hunter later crashing her car in J. Thousand. Ballard's "Crash". Deep South and sexy with it.I watched the film then, much later, the TV serial, mainly captivated by Lizzy Caplan who seems incredibly skilled at playing nutcases of varying severity. I was surprised when she turned up in Truthful Blood.
Yep, no statement. Possibly next time I watch Kaptain-Lieutenant survives the war?Only I wouldn't watch Das Boot again -- too depressing.
